This is a small hack I came across, This will go into your
system files and open new connections. It will not cause any problems however it
is up to you, do this at your own risk. Contact me for more details
First off you need to download the patch. | Click here to
download |
- Save this file onto your desktop and extract it to a folder.
- Open the file and run the program located inside the archive, agreeing
to the security warning.
- Some text should scroll by in a MS-DOS window, after it ends, type C.
- Enter 100 for the number of concurrent half-open connections and
press Enter.
- Type Y and the file should be patched. Cancel any Windows XP
warnings that should appear, it is part of Microsoft's way of ensuring its
files are not tampered with (the utility tempers them to break the limit on
purpose).
- When it asks to put in the Windows XP SP2 CD click cancel to continue.
After this is complete open up utorrent and set these settings.
- Open speed guide - Options>Speed guide (ctrl+G)
- Run the speed test, (make sure you don't have any downloads running) it
should give you a speed of xx/384k
- Set the connection type to the closest available.
- Inset 55641 as the current port.
Your speed may not increase due to various reasons some of which mentioned
below,
- Home router (having a static IP will help, I will try to include more
info about this later)
- Personal firewall
- Windows firewall
- utorrent website having a port problem
Enabling protocol encryption and increasing max half open connections
- Click options>preferences>BitTorrent
- Enable outgoing protocol encryption

- Click advanced, set net.max_halfopen value to 50 and click set (it is
normal for '' * '' to appear
- Click OK and close and reopen utorrent and watch the speeds

If the speed is respectively slow undo the last few steps.
(reset the net.max_halfopen value to 8 and disable outgoing protocol encryption)
chose whichever method that speeds up your downloads.
