One to many times have I gone overboard. Yet you always found away to forgive me even at the toughest and at most unbearable times. Firstly after the car crash which I put both mine n hasithas’ life in danger, and both ammas’ and thaththas’ reputation at risk. Well all in all it ended up with a massive fine of 8 and a half lakhs if not more. Yet you found the perfect way to teach me and to guide me, but most importantly to forgive me.
Secondly, the most dreadful thing a son could do to his parents was done by me. I lost your trust and so on. All though I was not miss lead by my you, I happened to find the way to hell and I was traveling down that road until I stopped a few days back. I felt horrible. But there too you found the perfect way to convey the message to me. In a way that I understand and in a way that I will respect. Its hard to bring up a child. Something which you have done to two great people. Well let me tell you that it is even harder to bring someone back from where he has drifted to. Usually a man would find his own friends. But you dad have even helped me there as well. And for that I am thankful and grateful. You always had your eye on me.
You have always been their for me. And you have always given what I wanted and a lot more. I have no idea what I have done in my earlier life to have such wonderful parents like you. Thaththta, amma I am so sorry for the person I was.
Today the 2nd of april 2005 when I was in the boat rowing with my friend. The boat was going perfectly. And everything around me was quiet and breathtaking. During this time the thoughts that ran through my head cannot be put in words. But that will only be felt if one is guided by such fine people such as your self. There is not a moment that passes me without you in my mind.
I have now realized the person whom I should be. I have also realized all that is good and bad. Thanks to you. If not for you I will be NOBODY in this word. I love you amma I love you thaththa. You’re the best thing that ever happened to me.
And I thank you for your understanding which you had throughout. This is what makes you unique. This is what makes you the perfect parents. Your guidance means a lot to me. It makes me proud to have both of you as my parents. I am truly honored.
Dad, your tactics to teach and to train is something that you are gifted with. Im sure that people with MBAs and PHDs don’t inherit this. It is something that you and you alone have. And I am glad that I am under your guidance.
Im sorry for all the trouble I have caused. This is a promise that will never be broken. I will respect and live to the standards that should run in the MANAWADU family. It is in our blood to be gentlemen. And that I will become.
I know that this is nothing close to the letter which was written by aiyya in 1997. But I am truly thankful to you in everything you have done for me. And for everything that you will be doing for me in the future.
